Here are some of the best examples of lighting at its most creative to provide you with inspiration for your lighting at home...

TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT OF LIGHTING

Led Wallpaper

The Sunshine in a Bottle Lamp is a simple but effective design that has enormous potential. It consists of a glass jar with a solar panel in the lid. This solar panel can collect energy during the day and can then light up at night. The lamp, which is available in South Africa, is a practical alternative to standard lamps, and it also looks beautiful.

Virtual Sky Panels

Similar to LED wallpaper, these Virtual Sky Panels were designed by engineers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering, and they mimic natural daylight. They create changing conditions associated with the natural sky, and the idea is that they can be used in offices to improve working condition.

Creating a Centre piece

Many artists have combined lighting techniques with other materials to either create an image or send a message, Rashad Alakbarov is the perfect example of this. Others have taken natural light and used it to their advantage to create sweeping walls of colour, Miami Airport is a great example of how well this can work. Using crystals in lighting can have a similar effect on a much more subdued level by casting rainbows around a room.

Lighting Trends Inspired by Art

The suspended light

The suspended light trend really came into its own in 2015 with  manufactures experimenting with shapes, heights and more. One particularly design that is proving popular is the wave-like suspended light. Whilst this may be difficult to re-create in your home, you can buy smaller versions of this trend that work well in a dining room or kitchen, much like the Arrow 8 light crystal ceiling pendant light.

The Modern Chandelier

The chandelier as we knew it officially transformed towards the  end of 2015 & is set to take 2016 by storm. Moving away from  the classic crystals, suspended beads and gold or silver gilding, it  now makes use of new materials, shapes and colours to create small pieces of art that can add class,  creativity and artwork to any room.

Use the Magic of Lighting

Lighting does not have to serve only a practical function, and it can be used in many creative and artistic ways. So take inspiration from these examples and see how you can make use of lighting more creatively.
