Tips for Sticking to your New Home Resolution
January is the time of year where everybody makes resolutions, and it is usually the month that people actually stick to them. Some of the most popular choices are to eat more healthily, get fitter, travel more and to redecorate. The start of a year is a great time to get organised and start making plans to change your house to feel more homely.
With the end of the month fast approaching we want to give you some tips to help make sure that your home gets the attention it deserves in 2014!
Plan long term The problem with New Years resolutions is that people rush to start them straight away. After the excitement of the festive period it can be hard to gather up the motivation needed to see plans through, and is why so many people start and then give up quickly. You should make a list of things you want to change and assign them to different months.
Think financially
If you have a lot of payments coming out for your car or other bills in February, plan to do the most expensive jobs around July. Planning like this will ensure you have enough time to save up the money necessary, but it isn’t too far away that you will put it off.
Prioritise
Redecorating is often something most homeowners want to do but put off when smaller things get in the way. Try to focus and make this the year that you prioritise your home over other things. Learn to say no to other things so you can keep up the progress with your house.
Make use of January
Straight after Christmas, January sales are everywhere and you should make the most of these. If you have some cash to spare then think about the colour scheme you are going to do and purchase some furniture and accessories in January whilst they are reduced. If you are looking for new light fittings we have many discounts including top brands like Astro lighting with 17% off. From large things like sofas to smaller items like photo frames, you are sure to get a good deal at this time of the year.
