Multipoint Door Handles

A multipoint door handle operates a multipoint locking system — a mechanism that secures the door at several points along the frame at once, rather than at a single central latch. The handle, lever, and euro cylinder keyhole are integrated onto one elongated backplate, designed to work directly with the locking mechanism built into the door. This makes multipoint handles the standard fitting for external entrance doors where security and weatherproofing are the primary requirement.

Because the handle and lock work as one system, a multipoint door handle is not a like-for-like swap with a standard rose or backplate fitting. The handle is specified to complement the lock case already installed in the door, making compatibility the most important consideration when selecting or replacing one.

Choosing the Right Multipoint Handle

Our Heritage Brass multipoint door handles are manufactured at 92mm euro centres — the distance from the centre of the lever spindle to the centre of the euro cylinder keyhole. It is worth confirming that your existing door lock also uses 92mm euro centres before placing an order, as handles and locks with different centre distances will not align with one another.

It is also worth checking your door has sufficient clearance for a backplate width of 44mm — on doors with narrow lock stiles or tight frame margins, a quick check beforehand avoids any issues on installation.

Multipoint handles are also supplied in left-hand (LH) and right-hand (RH) variants, and the correct handing should be selected when ordering. To identify which you need, stand outside the door facing inward — if the hinges are on your left, a left-hand set is the right choice; if on your right, select a right-hand set. Our team is happy to help if you are unsure.

To operate the locking mechanism, the lever is pushed upward to engage the locking points and moved downward to release them.

Materials and Finishes

Our multipoint door handles are manufactured in solid brass throughout, chosen for its dimensional stability and finish quality under daily use and outdoor exposure. Available finishes include polished chrome, antique brass, satin chrome, satin nickel, matt bronze, and satin brass — each suited to different door styles.

Each handle comes supplied as a complete pair, including 105mm and 85mm spindles, 65mm and 50mm fixing screws, and all fixing hardware needed for installation. For internal doors, browse our door handles on plate, round rose, and square rose ranges. View the full door handles collection to compare all fitting styles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are multipoint door handles universal?

Not quite — a multipoint handle works in conjunction with the lock case already fitted to your door, so the two need to be compatible. The euro centre measurement, which is the distance between the spindle and cylinder centres, should correspond to your existing lock. Our Heritage Brass multipoint handles are produced at 92mm euro centres, so confirming this on your current lock before ordering ensures a clean fit.

What is the difference between a multipoint handle and a standard door handle?

A standard door handle operates a single latch at one central point. A multipoint handle is built to drive a multipoint locking system, where lifting the lever simultaneously engages multiple locking points across the height of the door frame. The backplate also incorporates a euro cylinder keyhole as part of the same unit, whereas a standard handle and lock are fitted as separate independent components. Multipoint handles are designed for external doors; for internal doors, a rose or backplate handle is the appropriate fitting.

How do I determine the handing of my multipoint door handle?

Standing outside the door and facing inward is the simplest way to check. If the hinges are on your left, a left-hand (LH) set is what you need; if they are on your right, select a right-hand (RH) set. If replacing an existing handle, it may also be marked LH or RH on the backplate. Our team is happy to help confirm the correct handing before you order.
