Picture lights are the best way to highlight your paintings, photograph, artwork or wall hanging. A good quality picture light should complement the piece in its own right. It needs to provide exactly the right degree of illumination to show off even the most delicate artwork with no risk of harm.
To keep your treasured artwork in top condition, it should be hung out of direct daylight. A picture light allows you to put your pictures and paintings wherever you like. They’ll look at their best, even in the darkest corner of the room.

How to choose the right picture light
Generally speaking, picture lights should be roughly half the width of the picture it’s illuminating. As a rule of thumb, aim for a 30° angle between fixture and artwork to minimise glare – perhaps slightly less with large pictures and a little more if you want to accentuate texture.
Picture lights look at their best when they complement the colour and style of the artwork. For example, a brass or bronze finish looks beautiful with warm colours, while chrome or brushed silver goes well with cooler colours.
Bear in mind that a picture light doesn’t just have to be used for artwork. They’re also a great source of soothing background light, able to create an ambience and atmosphere of their own. To view the full range of picture lighting options at Arrow Electrical, take a look through our selection.
